My Personal Healing Journey
Becoming a therapist, took shape for many reasons. The main impetus stemmed from my healing journey surviving childhood trauma. However, once I moved along the path of growth and healing, I quickly fell into a passion for coaching and counselling that I knew was my destiny.
Experiencing early trauma created a burden of pain and suffering which was so intense to live with that I knew change was necessary. Despite the difficult challenges along my path, I now feel appreciation and gratitude for all my experiences, for they have given me valuable insights and wisdom. More important though, is how fortunate I am to now be a counsellor and coach in order to help others find their strengths, wisdom and insights to conquer their own fears and insecurities and achieve greater levels of inner peace and happiness.
Having confronted my own pain, I understand how much courage it takes to heal, and that profound change really is possible. By using your pain as leverage, you too can make small changes that will create the inner transformation that will manifest itself in your life. As you heal, you will begin to feel more whole and joyful which will alter your relationship with food and your body image.
Becoming a Therapist & Wellness Coach
My journey to becoming a therapist and coach began as early as high school. The journey started when I volunteered as a peer mentor in high school, and then continued on from there. After having the unwavering support of a school counsellor, who helped me weather an unbelievable emotional storm created from family conflict, I realized that I wanted to support vulnerable teens and help strengthen their families. That began my pursuit of counselling young people and strengthening their families. During that time, I realized that I was passionate about helping people develop a positive body image, a good relationship with themselves and with food.
Counselling & Therapy Experience
For the past 12 years, I have provided individual and group counselling sessions to children, youth, adults, families and couples. I have extensive therapy experience working with addictive disorders, including addictive eating issues. I utilize the latest evidence based therapy methods to help people come to terms with their issues of under or overeating.
In addition, I’ve provided therapy to those with complex mental health disorders as well as those who have experienced early trauma, grief and loss, difficult life transitions, anger management issues, communication problems, parenting and relationship difficulties. While I have a background working with people who have various addictive disorders, my passion lies with helping those conquer their battle with emotional eating patterns, poor self-esteem and body image.

Fitness Competition Background
Through my participation in fitness competitions, over the years (I represented BC at the 2008 CBBF National Fitness and Figure Championships), I have learned much valuable information. I learned about proper nutrition, physical exercise, and mental strengthening tools. Most importantly, I developed a good relationship with myself, that I now experience inner peace with myself and my body. I learned that I was separate from my body, and I began to develop self-acceptance and love for my ever-evolving physical shape. I developed love for myself by maintaining good self care, such as eating well, getting adequate sleep, and consistent physical activity. Also, I gained respect for myself for having faith, focus and commitment to see my goals to their completion.
I know you can heal if you are ready to make changes and have the right support systems in place. As your therapist, I will help you move through your problems or addictions with food. Through my support as your therapist and your commitment to the healing process, you CAN win this battle with food.
